The idea of itchy feet
The origin
The idea for itchy feet, the magazine for education and careers abroad, was born in Mai 2004, when Thomas Terbeck and Ramon Tissler coincidently met during a workshop for the education industry in London. They started chatting and soon noticed that they shared more than just a few thoughts and ideas. A few drinks later on the same evening, they realized that in all of Germany there did not exist one magazine that focussed on the topic education and careers abroad. Since they started writing down their ideas right then and there, the first brainstorming about itchy feet is logically written on a beer coaster.
The name
Occasionally people ask us how the hell we came up with the name “itchy feet”. Well, it’s fairly easy to understand the name, if you know that “itchy feet” in colloquial British English is a synonym for wanderlust, the desire to travel. Even in German you say that your feet are itching, when you feel that it’s time for a change. We could have also named the magazine “Ants” according to the saying “to have ants in one’s pants”, but that we definitely found a little too far fetched…
The concept
Our focus lies on giving our readers profound and competent information on education and career options abroad. Therefore only experts write articles in itchy feet. With their valuable experience and knowledge, they can be of great help for you in the process of making important decisions about your stay abroad. The printed copy of itchy feet is published twice a year, in November and April.
The entire range of education and career topics that are of interest to 14- to 29-year-old students and young professionals is covered in itchy feet:
- High School
- Language Travel
- Work & Travel
- University Studies
- Jobs & Internships
“itchy feet” is a mixture of a customer magazine and a special interest magazine. With its generous layout and the 4/4-color print on high-quality paper, it doesn’t only aim to set new standards in the editorial area.
